CHILD LABOUR AND DECENT WORK

Under Better Cotton Initiative Programme, Public Awareness Campaigns were conducted on August 15th during the year 2014 & 2015 in Guntur and Mahabubnagar Districts on Child labour and decent work for which SVFD has cofounded for each campaign. In which about 1000 farmers have attended. This has helped to partly eliminate child labour.

Organized in Public Awareness Campaigns on Child Labour and Fundamental Principles and rights at Work (FPRW) along with International Labour Organization (ILO), New Delhi at Warangal and Nalgonda districts of Telangana State. About 150 rural women, youth and labour from each village participated in the campaign. It was conducted in 20 villages (10 from each district) and a total of 3000 rural households were benefited by this programme and subsequent follow up revealed that about 25% of them have already initiated implementation of FPRW Principles and practices. Besides, elimination of child labour specially in cotton supply chain has happened. Consequently, the rate of attendance in school also improved.
